Look at these sentences: "She’s from Hungary;" "My brother’s got a new job;" "This is Sarah’s pen." All of these sentences have a word with ‘s on the end. This ‘s can be different things. In this lesson, you can learn about this ‘s and what it can mean.

You can learn:
- How 's can be the same as 'is'.
- How 's can be the same as 'has'.
- How 's can be similar to 'of'.
- How to understand and use 's in simple English sentences.

The IELTS Listening test will take about 30 minutes, and you will have an extra 10 minutes to transfer your answers to the answer sheet.
The four parts of this practice Listening test are presented over four separate web pages. Make sure you move swiftly from one page to the next so that your practice is as realistic as possible.
Download the question paper and blank answer sheet before you start, and write your answers on the question paper while you are listening. Use a pencil.
Listen to the instructions for each section of the test carefully. Answer all of the questions.
There are 40 questions altogether. Each question carries one mark.
For each part of the test, there will be time for you to look through the questions and time for you to check your answers.
When you have completed all four parts of the Listening test you will have ten minutes to copy your answers on to a separate answer sheet.

1. To catch a flick means: To see a movie.
2. A chick flick means: A romantic or emotional movie, as opposed to an action movie or thriller, suggesting (chauvinistically) that these movies appeal mostly to women.
3. To zone out means: To stop thinking or become unaware of one's environment.
4. A play-by-play means: A moment to moment description of events, either as they happen or after the fact.
5. To let someone off easy means: To allow someone to get away with unacceptable behavior with only a light punishment. A similar expression is “to let someone off the hook."This means to not hold someone responsible for something, or to not punish him or her for a mistake or misdeed.
